In one of the most eventful Betway Premiership transfer windows in memory, Mamelodi Sundowns made the biggest headlines once again even without a flurry of signings, while Orlando Pirates saw plenty of movement.

After a thrilling start to South Africa's football season, the Carling Knockout could add more twists and turns when it kicks off on Friday, with Stellenbosch taking on Kaizer Chiefs in the pick of the round.

Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch will face off for a second successive MTN8 final clash, this time at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, with Stellies looking to avenge last year's controversial defeat in the same fixture.

Mamelodi Sundowns' Peter Shalulile broke the Premier Soccer League (PSL) all-time goals record with a penalty in a 1-0 win over Stellenbosch FC at Athlone Stadium on Saturday, finally passing Siyabonga Nomvethe's mark of 129.

Fresh off their first win of the Betway Premiership season, Stellenbosch will host a still impressive but disjointed Mamelodi Sundowns at Athlone Stadium on Saturday.

The second leg fixtures in the MTN8 semi-final will both be played on Saturday, with Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch ahead of Orlando Pirates (on away goals) and Sekhukhune United respectively.

Orlando Pirates will host Stellenbosch at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday in the Betway Premiership, as two of last season's top three teams go head-to-head as they look to build momentum after sticky starts.

The first legs of the MTN8 semi-finals take place this Saturday, August 16, with Orlando Pirates hosting Mamelodi Sundowns at Orlando Stadium at 3pm CAT, and Stellenbosch face Sekhukhune United at 6pm.

It is crucial that Kaizer Chiefs hit the ground running against a Stellenbosch team that has secured back-to-back third-place finishes in the Betway Premiership.

The South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) 2025-26 season will kick off with the MTN8 quarterfinals on August 2-3. The single-leg knockout tournament consists of the top eight teams in last season's Betway Premiership
