Match Commentary
- 0': Join us at 12.30 GMT, as struggling Portsmouth look to continue their FA Cup run against local rivals Southampton.
- 0': Good afternoon all, and welcome to live coverage of the south coast derby between Southampton and Portsmouth.
- 0': Southampton: Davis, Thomas, Perry, Jaidi, Harding, Antonio, Hammond, Schneiderlin, Lallana, Lambert, Papa Waigo. Subs: Bialkowski, Gillett, Wotton, Holmes, Barnard, Mills, James.
- 0': Portsmouth: James, Mullins, Hreidarsson, Wilson, Belhadj, Basinas, Diop, O'Hara, Yebda, Utaka, Dindane. Subs: Ashdown, Piquionne, Owusu-Abeyie, Webber, Hughes, Tosic, Kanu.
- 0': Southampton might be in League One but they are very much the healthier of the two clubs. The threat of a winding up order still looms large over Pompey, who are due back in court this week, but Saints overcame their dire financial straits of a few years back thanks to German-born businessman Markus Liebherr.
- 0': The fans are right up for this one. They haven't met since April 2005, when Pompey thrashed Saints 4-1 in the season they went down. Don't forget they both share a common link, namely a certain Harry Redknapp.
- 0': I should say, three months before their last meeting Southampton won an FA Cup tie at St Mary's 2-1. Liebherr only took them out of administration last July.
- 1': We're off...
- 2': Saints' superbly named Papa Waigo gets a header into the box but James is out.
- 3': Saints have a long throw man, Anotnio, who launches one into the box looking for Lambert. Pompey hack clear.
- 4': It's all very scrappy at the minute, and we are still awaiting our first reducer.
- 5': First passing move from Pompey ends with a very poor cross from Jamie O'Hara.
- 6': Antonio launches another throw, then wins the ball off Yebda. His cross is right at James though.
- 7': Antonio is the main man at the minute, he wins a foul from Yebda on the left flank.
- 8': Lambert comes out to take the free kick, bizarre seeing as he's the best option for getting on the end of them. The ball is nodded out to Schneiderlin but he blazes over.
- 9': Great cahnce for Saints! Pap Waigo gets on the end of Hammond's ball with a free header six yards out but James makes a super save. It should have been 1-0.
- 10': Now Dindane beats the offside trap but can't reach O'Hara's ball before it runs out of play.
- 11': Another Antonio 'Delap-style' delivery. Free kick given for a push.
- 12': Pompey look a little sluggish here and Saints are snapping at them whenever they get the ball. Wilson just about wriggles out of trouble in his own half.
- 13': Pompey free kick, 30 yards out.
- 14': O'Hara has a crack but it was always curling away from the post. Kelvin Davis makes it look closer than it was.
- 15': Another chance for Papa Waigo inside the box. Hammond's ball finds him in between two defenders, tries to bring it down but gets it wrong and James can grab.
- 16': Poor control by Utaka after he is sprung away by Belhadj. Thomas gets back and concedes a corner.
- 17': Lallana wastes a great chance to break as they clear the corner. Papa Waigo looked like he was tripped as they were harrying up field.
- 18': Two good crosses from O'Hara but Saints clear.
- 19': It's 1-1 at Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and Cardiff by the way. Drogba and Chopra the scorers.
- 21': Pompey have ridden the early storm and are starting to string a few passes together.
- 22': O'Hara swings in a cross, then picks up the rebound and hammers one on goal. It is straight but dipping and Davis pulls off an excellent save.
- 23': Davis then claims the corner. Solid work from the Saints keeper.
- 24': Yebda's cross sails out of play.
- 25': O'Hara is crowded out by Antonio.
- 27': After a bright start the game has got rather poor.
- 28': The atmosphere has dipped a little too, given that the action isn't up to much.
- 30': Howard Webb does his arm waving routine after Basinas handles the ball. I'm sure he's a keen amateur dramatic in his spare time.
- 31': Lambert wins another header but Lallana can't get his shot away.
- 32': O'Hara, Pompey's main man, has a strike at goal but it is watched behind by Kelvin Davis.
- 33': Bouba Diop and Jaidi clash in the area. Webb has a word.
- 34': Oh dear! James lost Lambert's corner, and Jaidi can't direct his header on goal from two yards out. He was leaning back and it came to him quickly, so I think he can be forgiven.
- 35': Jaidi clears Yebda's corss, then Davis is out to claim O'Hara's ball.
- 36': I've said it before and I'll say it again; this game needs a goal.
- 37': Another chance for Saints from Antonio's throw and Lambert's flick on and Lallana is inches away from reaching it before James.
- 38': Basinas draws a foul from Papa Waigo.
- 39': O'Hara pops up on the right this time before Mullins' poor touch hands possession to the home side.
- 40': A good, full blooded tackle between Schneiderlin and Wilson. the Pompey man comes off worse.
- 41': Basinas is not getting a second to himself on the ball.
- 42': More penalty box drama as Saints turn in another throw and Pompey wobble. The offside flag saves them this time as Waigo strayed offside.
- 43': Saints win a corner. Its' that man Antonio again.
- 44': James saves from a dangerous Lambert corner as Thomas gets up at the far post. The 'keeper was out of position but stuck his hands up and made the save.
- 45': Lallana runs out of pace after his run down the right stumbles. Then Basinas gets out of jail for a very casual lay-off in his own box.
- 45': Half time.
- 46': Second half starts as the first one ended with James in action. He saves a point blank header from Lallana brilliantly.
- 47': James celebrated his save by booting the post and shouting his head off.
- 48': Now Dindane fires a shot just wide of the post after cuting inside Perry. First sight of goal for him.
- 49': Another decent ball into the box but Schneiderlin can't direct a volley on target from a narrow angle.
- 50': Now a chance for Diop as he meets a Yebda cross. He can't get it on target though.
- 52': Another ball flies into Pompey's box but they clear then break...
- 54': And Utaka gets into the area flanked by Perry and forces Davis into a save with his legs at his near post.
- 55': Chris Perry is a lucky boy. A replay shows that a few minutes ago he had a full grip of Dindane's shirt as a cross came in.
- 56': The fans are having a right go at each other in the corner. It all seems good natured though, well, as good natured as it can be.
- 57': David James grimaced as he claimed a loose ball there. Looks like a groin or a calf.
- 58': Pompey change: Basinas comes off and Owusu-Abeyie comes on.
- 59': Harding tries a very weak effort from the edge of the box with his wrong foot. It dribbles into James' arms.
- 60': Antonio launches another throw and Lallana ends up trying an overhead kick but Jameas gets across easily enough.
- 61': A scramble in Saints box now as O'Hara's free kick lands at Diop's feet. Perry hammers clear.
- 62': Lambert wins a high ball and Lallana gets onto it but his left footed volley lacks the pace to get past James. It was well directed though.
- 64': Pompey look more threatening after the change and they are creating space in the final third.
- 66': GOAL! Owusu-Abeyie!
- 66': Well, what a cracking finish! The ball came to him after a string of errors and from a standing position, 17 yards out he curls one into the far corner superbly.
- 67': Antonio crosses as Saints look to hit back but Hammond's header is right at James.
- 70': GOAL! Lambert!
- 70': Harding launches the ball in the box and Lambert directs his header into the corner. Easy as you like.
- 71': Well, game on! Pompey were level for just three minutes.
- 71': Another excellent chance for Saints as Pap Waigo gets down the right. Antonio is in the middle but the ball across goal is poor.
- 72': "There's only one team in Hampshire." sing the Saints fans. Another Pompey change: Piquionne on and Utaka off.
- 73': Saints change: Lee Barnard replaces Papa Waigo.
- 74': Antonio goes for glory from distance and gets it all wrong. Chelsea have beaten Cardiff 4-1 in the other early kick off.
- 75': GOAL! Dindane!
- 75': Dindane gets into the box after a Perry error and though Davis gets a touch on his shot, there is enough on it to creep inside the far post.
- 76': Three goals in eight minutes and the cup tie is alive. Saints wins a corner straight away. Could it be four goals in ten minutes?
- 77': It's a big task for Saints to come back again. Especially with the pace Pompey have on the break.
- 78': Yebda gets a yellow after a lunge.
- 79': Saints have the ball in the net but it won't count! As Lallana got a strike on goal Barnard was standing a yard offside. The ball bobbled into his path and he tapped it in but the flag went up instantly.
- 80': Barnard had no need to touch that, Lallana had followed through after his shot and he was onside. He could have equalised.
- 81': James watches a looping Lambert header land on the top of the net.
- 82': GOAL! Belhadj!
- 82': Saints get caught on a classic counter. O'Hara volleys into Belhadj's path and he is clean through. He waits an age but slots it under Davis and Pompey will surely taste victory at St Mary's for the first time.
- 83': Saints still press. They are lumping everything into the box when they get the chance.
- 85': GOAL! O'Hara!
- 85': Another incisive breakaway from Pompey, O'Hara feeds Belhadj, he crosses for Piquionne who tees up O'Hara and he strikes home. Superb goal.
- 86': Well, who knew? Pompey in clinical counter-attacking shock. What a burst of goals in this half. Five in 20 minutes.
- 87': Not surprisingly, that has knocked the stuffing right out of the Saints. They outplayed Pompey for an hour but didn't make the most of their chances and now they've been made to pay the price.
- 89': Barnard and Lallana get in each other's way and this game is all but over.
- 90': Owusu-Abeyie dances into the box but his pull back isn't to anyone in particular.
- 91': Three minutes added...
- 92': A brave effort from Saints but Howard Webb should do them a favour and call time on this now.
- 93': That's it! A great day for Pompey who surge into the quarter finals. A good effort from Saints but the Premier League class told in the end.
